Newcastle fans delighted with Redfearn appointment

Newcastle United are in desperate need of some inspiration from somewhere for their senior side, but this latest piece of news is regarding the club’s U23 side. Lee Ryder of The Chronicle took to Twitter this morning to confirm the news that Niel Redfearn is now working alongside Ben Dawson as a coach for the club’s U23 side.

The fans are delighted to see that Redfearn has been given a job alongside Dawson with the club’s U23s and some fans have even made the bold claim that the ex-Leeds and Rotherham man will be the next to take up the managerial job at St James Park when Rafa Benitez is eventually poached by a top side in the Champions League. Of course, no Newcastle fan wants to lose Benitez but if the Spaniard does go they’ll need to ensure they get the right man in.

Redfearn has the credentials to be a good coach at St James Park and it seems like a stroke of genius to get him in for the club’s U23s. Ben Dawson’s side boasts some very impressive young talents and Redfearn will only help in bringing those youngster’s levels up even further. It’s likely that Benitez had a say in getting the 53-year-old in and the Magpies will be hoping they can see the impact that Redfearn as on the pitch in the coming matches.
