Lots of Newcastle United fans have been purring over transfer reports from the Scottish Mail (via NUFC 360) claiming that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard views the Tyneside club as an ‘attractive next step’ in his career.
Indeed, the 22-year old is enjoying yet another fine season in the Scottish Premiership, as he has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 27 appearances so far, according to Transfermarkt.
However, his latest comments may suggest that he would like to move away from the league in order to continue his development as a footballer and a transfer to the Premier League would arguably be a big step up.
The would-be owners in the northeast may be looking for a statement signing in order to kick-start the new era and Edouard could well fit the bill. However, he is likely to cost a pretty penny, being arguably the Hoops’ biggest asset, but the Saudi-led consortium would likely have the funding needed to prise the Frenchman away from the Scottish champions.
