Lots of Newcastle fans have found a silver lining in Saturday’s defeat to Everton, praising the performance of Jetro Willems.
The Magpies were beaten 2-1 on Saturday as their superb home form came to an abrupt end.
Miguel Almiron nearly got off to the perfect start with an early effort which was saved by Jordan Pickford, before the Toffees took control of the match and grabbed a deserved lead.
Steve Bruce’s side woke up after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s close-range finish though, ending the first-half as the better side with Almiron once again coming close with a low shot hitting the post.
The second half perhaps showed Bruce’s tactical naivety though, as despite Fabian Schar’s equalising goal his side seemed to get worse as the game wore on, pumping endless long balls towards Andy Carroll.
Fans have found something to cheer about though, heaping praise on Willems, who won 11 of his 18 duels, per Sofascore.

Good start from #nufc. Liking the look of the more mobile Joelinton with Carroll as the obvious target man. I have no problem with that.
