Newcastle United is a club of huge pride that has been lucky enough to have some top stars play there over the years, from Kevin Keegan to Alan Shearer, the list is a very long one. Whilst they may not have someone of that calibre now, the attitude amongst the squad is top class and that’s been matched by new signing, Salomon Rondon, who the fans already love.

Yesterday, Newcastle announced the signing of Rondon on a season-long loan, a deal taking Dwight Gayle to West Brom on loan in the other direction. The terms of the agreement suit all parties. Newcastle get the big target-man number nine that they need and West Brom get the 20-goal Championship striker they need to return to the Premier League. The issues could come next summer, depending on whether or not West Brom are promoted.
A lot of fans had been unsure of the Rondon deal, the striker hasn’t exactly lit the Premier League up in his time in England. However, the Venezuelan has passion and desire in abundance and whilst he may not be the best forward in the club’s history, the fans love a trier and you know that in Rondon you’ll get 110% every week. If the Magpies can utilise the talents of the big man then they’ll be in a good position to push for a top half finish again this season, but the season is long and we’ll have to wait and see.
