It’s not very often that the man to let Newcastle United down is Martin Dubravka, however, yesterday in the Premier League’s early kick off the Slovakian ‘keeper had an almighty howler. After the ball dropped kindly for Heung-Min Son on the edge of the box the box, his low driven effort fumbled through Dubravka and into the net.

It was a very preventable error from the goalkeeper and whilst a lot of Newcastle fans will be quick to late the 30-year-old, it’s worth pointing out that he’s saved the club a hell of a lot more points than he’s cost them this season, even if he did cost them a vital point yesterday at Wembley. Putting the mistake and the result aside though, the fans still can’t be too disheartened after a memorable week.
The Geordies were treated to two things they never thought they’d see in the past seven days. Not only did they overcome Manchester City, winning 2-1 at St James Park courtesy of goals from Salomon Rondon and Matt Ritchie, but they also smashed their transfer record when Mike Ashley allowed Rafa Benitez to bring in Miguel Almiron. So with that in mind, it’s not all doom and gloom even if Dubravka did cost them a point.

There’s no questioning that the Slovakian should have kept out Son’s effort, but Tottenham deserved their win even if it came in fortuitous circumstances.
