This summer has been of great frustration for Newcastle fans, whilst they haven’t had any issues on their outgoings, the club has seriously struggled to bring players in. Now, though, they could see some issues on that front too as according to journalist Ed Aarons on Twitter, Everton are interested in signing Jamaal Lascelles from St James Park.

Under Rafa Benitez, Jamaal Lascelles has become one of the best defenders in the Premier League, his leadership and ability to raise the game of those around him with his performances have made him a serious player and a lot of that can be put down to his Spanish gaffer’s tutelage. Now, with the 24-year-old approaching his peak years, Benitez will be desperate to keep him at the club as he aims to build something with the Magpies.
Unfortunately, the club is owned by Mike Ashley. The Sports Direct owner will likely cash in on his prize asset if a bid of the right price comes in and whilst the Geordies have already fended off interest from West Ham for the ex-Nottingham Forest man, Everton provide an entirely new challenge with Farhad Moshiri on a mission to help Marco Silva make The Toffees a top-six club.

Whilst some fans are worried that Ashley might be tempted by the money, the majority of the Magpies are confident that Lascelles will stay put.
