Newcastke fans on Twitter were made to believe that everything would be alright yesterday. The reports of Mike Ashley selling Newcastle were confirmed to be true and with Peter Kenyon looking to buy, fans got their hopes up. However, a story in The Daily Mail has today revealed that Mike Ashley has doubts over whether Kenyon can match his £300 million valuation.

According to the article, fantastically put together by Craig Hope, Ashley and co at the club are yet to see evidence that Kenyon can finance the deal and claim that the ex-Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive has been ‘rowing his own boat’ in regards to talking up the financial backing of the deal. Despite that, though, Kenyon has been given access to the club’s detailed accounts, with Ashley giving them access in the hope it will only sure up their interest in the deal.
The Newcastle fans are still sceptical over any sort of deal. They’ve been fooled by Ashley’s schemes before and they’re determined not to fall into the same trap as the Sports Direct owner continues to manipulate the famous old club. If he does let St James Park go then good times could be on the horizon for the fans, and with Peter Kenyon, they’d have a football man in charge as opposed to a money man. It’s thought that if Kenyon’s consortium does buy the club that he’ll instate himself as the club’s chief executive, and that’s a move the supporters want to see.
Despite all of that, you can read the sceptical Magpies’ thoughts on the deal here:
