Newcastle fans on Twitter have been heaping on praise on sublime Dubravka

Newcastle fans have not got much to shout about this season, however, everything good that has come from them has mostly been through Martin Dubravka. The goalkeeper turned 30 yesterday and when Newcastle tweeted him a happy birthday message, the Magpies jumped on it, throwing praise at their incredible goalkeeper.

Martin Dubravka was signed by Rafa Benitez on-loan in January 2018 at a time when the fans were hardly demanding a new shot-stopper. However, the decision to bring in the Slovakian has proved to be an incredible one. The new man between the sticks became a permanent signing over the summer and he’s one of the best players to walk through the doors at St James Park in the last few seasons.

Benitez has been left to wheel and deal with the tiny budget gifted to him by Mike Ashley, and whilst he hasn’t always been able to get in the most amazing new signings, Dubravka is one who has saved them a large number of points. Starting with his debut against Manchester United last season, the goalkeeper has been one of the most important players to the Geordies, and he’s someone who should be cherished for years to come by the fans, although it’s obvious they love him.
