Mike Ashley has done some shocking things in his time at Newcastle and the fans can’t wait to get rid of him. However, the fans have been left bewildered as it turns out the club wrote a letter to the Spanish federation president, Luis Rubiales offering their Spanish gaffer to manage La Roja for the World Cup. This news has been met with dismay from the Magpies, who can’t believe their club was dim enough to offer their manager to another federation on a temporary basis. Fortunately, the fans didn’t have to lose out on Benitez for the World Cup and Fernando Hierro took over for the tournament, bowing out in the round of sixteen to the host nation, Russia on penalties.
The Geordies have been fuming over the news that Ashley was prepared to let Benitez go for a large portion of the transfer window and the way that their gaffer has been left on his own in the transfer window with little funds available. The supporters have even gone as far as setting up a movement for their gaffer, the #IfRafaGoesWeGo campaign has given the ex-Real Madrid boss the fans full backing and they’ve made it clear that Mike Ashley is not welcome at their club.
