The summer could be set to get a whole lot worse for Newcastle United. The players have been locked in a dispute with the club over bonuses for the upcoming season and have withdrawn all cooperation with the media as a result of this, according to Keith Downie on Twitter.

This show of protest is one that will probably go a long way with the club. The squad refused to give up their own time to film “walk up” shots for TV companies for the upcoming season and they’ll continue in their standoff against Mike Ashley and the club until this issue has been resolved. However, with just five days until the start of the season, it remains to be seen what will happen if the issue is not sorted by then.
Mike Ashley is one of the worst men in football in the eyes of Newcastle United fans. The Sports Direct owner is painted as a pantomime villain in the Northeast for his lack of ambition and funding that he’s putting into the Magpies. St James Park’s amazing atmosphere is in serious danger of turning toxic under his ownership and if things aren’t sorted quickly then it could have devastating effects on Newcastle United both on and off the pitch.

The supporters are loving their player’s protests against Ashley and will be keen to see some movement in their owners camp to resolve this issue.
