Whilst Newcastle United continue their protests against Mike Ashley off the pitch and continue to be woeful on it, a lot of the time Rafa Benitez gets off without much criticism after a defeat. However, after Brighton on Saturday, the fans have been slating the Spaniard for the way the game went and can’t believe they lost the game given the stats.

It’s beginning to look like The Geordies couldn’t buy three points at the moment, and even if they could there’s no way Mike Ashley would shell out money for them. The club is looking like favourites for the drop at the moment and if they do go down they’ll have both Ashley and Benitez to blame. It’s all good putting it all on Ashley for the lack of financial backing, but Rafa came 10th with this squad last season, leaving no excuses for their current form.
Against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, The Magpies had 68% possession and 27 shots. In comparison, Brighton’s 32% possession and eight shots look meagre and it seems ludicrous that the Magpies lost the game given the way it went. Although, you won’t find many surprised Newcastle fans, who will just be hoping this season can be over quickly. Benitez is starting to come in for criticism and if he gets axed, there will be very few questions.

The fans are getting bored of protecting Rafa Benitez and won;t be too fussed if Ashley decides to sack him given the team’s current form.
