Newcastle United supporters have been pretty downbeat in recent times after seeing their team head into the season’s first international break without a victory in the Premier League.
Rafa Benitez’s men went into their encounter with champions Manchester City last time out having picked up just one point from their opening three league games, which came courtesy of a 0-0 draw at Cardiff City. And while they produced a spirited display against Pep Guardiola’s Citizens last weekend, it wasn’t enough to register their first win of the season as goals from Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker either side of a DeAndre Yedlin equaliser sealed all three points for the North West outfit.
As such, there have been many frustrated Magpies supporters up and down the country in recent times, although they are likely to be intrigued by recent reports that manager Benitez is indeed planning for the January window.
NEW: Rafa begins work on January.
Does it mean anything about long-term planning?https://t.co/mdNzYUqg5N

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss was again left somewhat frustrated by owner Mike Ashley during the summer in only luring seven players to St James’ Park, two of which on loan deals and another on a free transfer.
And given the recurring promises broken by the Newcastle owner, many are speculating as to whether Benitez will remain at the club much longer if he has to continue working with his hands tied behind his back, but reports suggest that he is indeed planning for the January window, which could suggest that he will stay on Tyneside.
Yet many Newcastle fans on Twitter are not reading anything into this recent report…
That’s the nature of the man….he is meticulous in his planning….not expecting anything as per usual from MA

Nop. It means the guy is a professional and if he stays or goes he has put the club in a better position than it was when he arrived. MA has no idea what he could lose

No. He won’t stop doing the job just because he’s leaving in May. He’ll try to sign players, Ashley will say no. Dejavu

Umh, now Rafa has finished preparations for January. Nufc will still be in profit.

Nope. It just means he is a true professional and will keep doung his very best until the end. It is also rafa (imo) giving the board one more chance to get it right.

Absolutely zero point in Rafa planning, Charnley and MA will only end up signing (if anyone) Rafa’s 20th choice LB.

Rafa’s future has no bearing on how he does his job He is so focused on doing a good job as manager

Maybe Rafa should put his first choices down as 20th choices so he will get them! #NUFC
