Newcastle United supporters in the Transfer Tavern are very much looking forward to their side’s second Premier League game of the 2018/19 season when they make the trip to South Wales on Saturday.
Rafa Benitez’s men face Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City on Saturday off the back of losing their opening match of the campaign at home to Tottenham last weekend, while the Bluebirds also suffered defeat upon their return to the top-flight, going down 2-0 at Bournemouth. Yet several Magpies fans are confident that their team have enough to go to the Cardiff City Stadium and pick up their first victory of the campaign, with striker Salomon Rondon one man they are hoping can produce the goods this weekend.
The 28-year-old made the move on loan to St James’ Park earlier this month from Championship side West Brom, yet reports recently suggest that the forward has since penned a 12-month extension to his Baggies contract, thus meaning that he is no longer a free agent at the end of the season.
Thus, the Magpies will now be unable to land Rondon on a free come the end of the current campaign, and having reportedly turned down the chance to sign the Venezuela international permanently this summer, it appears that the club have made something of an error.
And news that Rondon has signed a new deal with West Brom, and thus the implications that has on the Magpies, has stimulated quite a response from several disappointed, irritated, but ultimately resigned Newcastle fans on Twitter…
He could score 30 for us this season and Ashley still wouldn’t fork out

They won’t be fussed because Ashley and Benitez know that the latter will not be there next season.

Hahahaha. He’ll have a blinder this year. The poverty at nufc will continue

Guess he won’t be playing for #NUFC next season then

I suspect we never wanted to buy him anyway. Regardless of how successful this loan is, Mike Ashley won’t spend a penny on a player who is in his 30’s. Enjoy him whilst we have him lads.

Don’t think he’ll be here next season, I don’t think he’s Sam Alladice kind of player

Suppose we will just have him for the one season then
