Newcastle battled to a draw against Wolves at Molineux. They took the lead within 10 minutes through Miguel Almiron’s third goal for the club, before Leander Dendoncker’s strike levelled the match. It provides much-needed respite for Steve Bruce after a run of three losses in a row, where the Magpies conceded nine goals.
A huge injury list is derailing their season, with Bruce extremely limited in his options to call upon. The fixture schedule is unforgiving, with an FA Cup third-round replay against Rochdale being followed by clashes with Chelsea and Everton. January could be a pivotal month for the club to bolster a squad that’s on its knees.
It also presents an opportunity to their academy players. With the likes of Sean and Matty Longstaff already in the first team, the game against Wolves presented an opportunity for two more youngsters on the bench. Kell Watts and Tom Allan were both involved in the draw.
