Football can be a mightily strange game. A couple of months ago no one would have been interested in Newcastle’s Ayoze Perez, yet the Spaniard put together some form and scored some goals and all of a sudden he could be leaving for big money, and Spanish outlet Cadena SER are claiming he will leave St James Park this summer.
Ayoze Perez speaking to Cadena SER: “It’s going to be a long summer but I will choose [which club to join] well.” #nufc

Ayoze Perez has proven to be a very impressive signing at St James Park in his time at the club. The young Spaniard joined the Magpies five years ago this summer from second-tier Spanish side Tenerife back in the days of Alan Pardew, and Rafa Benitez has benefitted greatly from that coup. His return of 47 goals and 17 assists in 194 games may not look like much, but the fans appreciate his efforts.
This summer, it does look like the second-striker is starting to believe his own hype a tad too much. He’s scored 11 Premier League goals in the current campaign and has only started to really thrive since Miguel Almiron and Salomon Rondon have been used alongside him in a three-pronged attack. However, if there are teams who are prepared to come in and pay big money the Geordies aren’t going to say no.
You can read the Magpies’ verdict on Ayoze’s comments here:
I think he's peaked for us and we should sell for as much as we can. He's not irreplaceable.
The lad has given us 5 yrs and I think he deserves a move and a chance to play in Europe.— Jon Sadler (@JonSadler8) May 8, 2019
Is anyone else a bit annoyed that straight after a standout season he’s decided he wants to leave?

He's been great last 10 games or so but no way he'll keep at that level. He'll dip again. Great time to hit that form as we'll get 25m for him.

He’s had one half good season n he thinks he’s a superstar

Let’s be honest here who ever thinks he’ll go to a top team in Europe needs to go to games more often, his lack of commitment, his lack of passion is there for all to see, yes he’s had a good ‘couple of months’ but howay man ffs take 20 million and tadaaa Perez

On ya bike son! Good servant always tried his best but don’t let the last handful of games at the end of every season fool ya people have short memories how frustrating he is most of every season I wish him well just like any former mag

Don't try to keep him, if he wants to leave. It's a perfect time to sell

Whilst Perez’s goals in the second half of the season will be hard to replace the Magpies aren’t complaining about the Spaniard leaving with his recent comments.
