Newcastle fans take to Twitter to enjoy Fulham’s relegation

Fulham

In the footballing world, a little bit of pettiness goes a very long way. Whether it’s Tottenham increasing the capacity of their stadium by a couple of thousand to best The Emirates or this group of Newcastle fans digging out an almost three-year-old tweet from Fulham to spite them, fans always love it.

In this case, it’s the Magpies and the Fulham tweet. Way back in August 2016, as Newcastle fans were met with the harsh realities of life outside of the Premier League following their relegation to the Championship, Fulham’s Twitter account added insult to injury after beating them. The Geordies first game in the second-tier was a 1-0 away loss at Craven Cottage, and Fulham were keen to let them know it wouldn’t be easy.

The tweet included above was what they sent after that game, and it’s fair to say that even if it’s been almost three years coming, the Geordies have loved seeing karma bite the Cottagers back. Last night Fulham’s relegation was confirmed after their 4-1 away loss at Watford, and after digging the tweet back out from the archives, the Magpies had a field day in the replies.

You can see what the Geordies had to say here:

BTW. Thanks for the £25M for Mitro.
Wonder if all your high earners will stay on or whether you will be forced to sell them. Not sure the value of them will be what you expect it to be
Parachute payment will run out soon and you will be forced to earn a few bucks from netflicks

The Geordies have thoroughly enjoyed seeing Fulham go down, and will hope that they’re not back anytime soon.
