Newcastle fans have been given a new lease of life over the last month. It surely isn’t a coincidence that the Magpies turn in form has come at the same time as Sean Longstaff’s breakthrough into the senior side. The 21-year-old midfielder’s award nomination is completely justified and the Geordies can’t get enough of the impressive local lad.
United’s Sean Longstaff has been nominated for the @premierleague‘s Player of the Month award for February!

Newcastle fans cannot get enough of a local lad. At the moment the only two lads that the fans have at the club in the senior side are Longstaff and Paul Dummett. They may not compare to the likes of Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne from years gone by but it doesn’t mean the fans love them any less as St James Park will always welcome someone from their academy or from the local area.
If Longstaff is to win the February player of the month award it would be completely justified. The Magpies month started shakily with a 1-0 loss to Spurs followed by a 1-1 draw against Wolves. However, the midfielder then shone against both Huddersfield and Burnley as they won the games 2-0. The Geordies were even lucky enough to see Longstaff bag in that game against Burnley, and whilst the 21-year-old may not win the player of the month, his nomination is certainly justified.

Looking at the mediocre bunch of other contenders (Sergio Agüero, Liverpool duo Sadio Mané and Virgil van Dijk, Saha) I reckon young Sean Longstaff has this one in the bag.

He is only a young lad but has displayed quality and maturity beyond his years. He deserves to win the award and I'm sure he will win many more in the future.

The Magpies love seeing Longstaff take to the pitch at St James Park and would love it even more if he was to win the prestigious monthly award.
