Newcastle fans have every right to be getting excited by the impressive Sean Longstaff. The 21-year-old midfielder has been in incredible form over the last five Premier League games for the Magpies and he’s yet to miss a minute in those as he picked up yet another man of the match award yesterday for his efforts in the Geordies’ 1-1 draw at Wolves.
Man of the Match, @NUFC’s Sean Longstaff
71 touches
Completed 42/52 passes
9 recoveries
6 tackles

The Magpies may be delighted to see their young academy man tearing things up in the Premier League, but none of them is the least bit surprised. They all knew that they had a real player on their hands, and when he announced himself to the top flight with his dominant display against Manchester City as his side beat the Premier League champions, the Magpies couldn’t have been happier.
Since then, he hasn’t let his levels drop either and has only continued to do what he does best. The next step for Longstaff will be for the youngster to grab his first goal for the senior side in front of the St James Park crowd. His only senior goal to date came in the FA Cup away at Blackburn, and if he can repeat that at home against either Huddersfield or Burnley in their next two games then the Magpies will be overjoyed.
You can read the Magpies’ verdict on Longstaff here:
He looks shattered there but no surprise as yet again he gave everything for the team, what a talent! I hope the England U21 boss if not Southgate is watching #OneOfOurOwn #NUFC

The Magpies love seeing one of their own playing well and getting recognised and Sean Longstaff is no exception of that.
