Miles Starforth has given a rather positive update on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United as he claimed on his official Twitter page that the buyers apparently remain fully committed to getting the deal over the line.
As per the tweet by the journalist for The Shields Gazette, the bid has been with the Premier League since April and the talk about Henry Mauriss is for now a distraction, concluding that he believes that it is now time for the English top flight to make their final decision.

According to Bloomberg, the American businessman is preparing a charm offensive in the United Kingdom in an attempt to try and push through his bid to buy the Tyneside club ahead of the £300m deal originally agreed by Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group.

Indeed, Mauriss is willing to pay Ashley £350m to take over the reins at St. James’ Park, topping the bid from the Saudi Arabian consortium by £50m.
Whether this deal is taken into serious consideration is not yet clear as the original would-be owners headed by Staveley are still awaiting confirmation as to whether their offer will be approved by the Premier League; and if that is given the green light, then Mauriss’ offer becomes irrelevant.

Nevertheless, the fact that the Saudi buying side remains committed to making sure that their offer goes through will surely encourage some members of the Toon faithful, who now await the final announcement from the Premier League.
