Newcastle United continue to redefine their trajectory under Eddie Howe.
The Magpies enjoyed a memorable 2024/25 season, securing Champions League qualification and lifting their first domestic trophy in over 70 years with a historic EFL Cup triumph.
Despite the progress, Howe is determined not to let his squad stagnate. Instead, he’s pushing forward with a focused and ambitious transfer strategy. The club has already made early moves in the market, most notably securing Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
Elanga, one of Forest’s standout performers last season, played a pivotal role in their qualification for European football. His arrival adds pace, intensity, and much-needed depth to Newcastle’s wide options.
A move for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish is also said to be on the cards — and now, another major signing could soon follow.
Newcastle Offered Chance to Sign Gallagher

According to a new report from TEAMtalk, Conor Gallagher has been offered to Newcastle United.
The England international made a surprise switch from Chelsea to Atlético Madrid last summer in a deal worth £34 million. While Gallagher made 50 appearances in his debut La Liga campaign, a significant number came from the bench, raising questions about his long-term future in Spain.
Described as “intense” by Atlético boss Diego Simeone, Gallagher is highly regarded at the club for his relentless work rate and commitment. However, Atleti are reportedly open to selling the midfielder this summer — but only if they receive a fee in the region of £35 million.
Newcastle are specifically named in the report as a club with genuine interest. Manager Eddie Howe is said to be a long-time admirer of Gallagher’s energy, pressing ability, and versatility — qualities that would be valuable as the club returns to the Champions League.
Crucially, Gallagher is also believed to be open to a return to the Premier League. After a year abroad, he reportedly feels more comfortable in England and would be open to a move back if the right opportunity arises.
At present, the situation remains calm, with no formal bid submitted — but talks could resume later in the summer if Newcastle, or another interested club, decide to make a move.
A deal isn’t imminent, but this could be one to watch as the window develops.
