The Toon Army here in the Tavern are crying out for some quality additions in the January transfer window, with their future in the Premier League on the line.
Rafa Benitez is undoubtedly one of the most decorated managers in world football, after securing just about every European and domestic trophy you can think of.
However, his time on Tyneside hasn’t exactly been the highlight of his managerial career, as they continue to look like returning to the Championship next season.
Although he’s managed to produce a title during his short time in charge of Newcastle United, this will all be in vain if he doesn’t manage to keep them up this season.
However, with Rafa in charge you can never rule out the unthinkable after seeing his Liverpool side complete the ‘Istanbul miracle’, so there couldn’t be a much better manager suited for their survival.
But one thing that’s believed to have halted the progress of Benitez is the lack of funds provided for him to go out and buy the players he requires, with Mike Ashley resuming his normal selfish ways.
Therefore, with a major makeover needed in the transfer window if the appropriate funds are provided to Benitez, he’ll be looking to add a striker and a full-back to his list.
Nevertheless, with the Spanish manager seeking the services of three or four new players during the January window, here’s a look at TWO players he may look to snatch from his home country.
Cedric Bakambu

The Congo international is back on the goal-trail this season as he continues to establish himself as one of the La Liga’s most prolific strikers.
After becoming the vocal-point of the Villareal attack, Cedric Bakambu has been scoring for fun this season with 14+ goals already to his name, in what has been yet another special campaign for the forward.
Indeed, he’s lethal in the channels, given a yard of space, and loves to turn the defenders inside out with him able to find the back of the net with either foot.
Always on the move looking for more goals, definitely a striker that can launch Newcastle out of any relegation trouble, a man in fine form indeed.
Jaume Costa

The Villareal left-back has impressed in the La Liga for sometime now as one of the league’s most reliable left-backs.
With experience against the best attackers in world football, and a numerous amount of appearances on the European stage, the 29-year-old is well equipped for a relegation battle.
Newcastle United’s missing ingredient in the left-back position of late has been reliability in performance and experience, with Javier Manquillo not making the cut.
Therefore, with the Villareal left-back providing composure, solidity, reliability and experience, there isn’t a more suited defender to lead them out of trouble.
Newcastle fans, thoughts?
