Mark Douglas has given a fresh update on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United as he claims that “Lee Charnley has been told – and is telling others – it is business as usual until the deal is concluded”.

As per his comments from The Chronicle, the journalist has suggested that the managing director in the northeast does not want talk of the prospective £300m deal between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group to distract from the Tyneside club moving forward.
Indeed, the 2019/20 season has not finished yet as the Magpies still have five games left to play following their 2-2 draw in the Premier League against West Ham United at St. James’ Park at the weekend, in which they twice had to come from behind thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey.
Nevertheless, Douglas stated the fact that it has been nearly three months now since the consortium went into the Owners’ and Directors’ Test (ODT) set out by the Premier League, as even Ashley himself has been made to wait for the results of the bid from England’s highest division.
There have previously been accusations against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) by Hatice Cengiz, the fiancee of the late journalist Jamaal Khashoggi, who has written several letters both to the league and members of the Toon faithful urging the blocking of the takeover.

She claims that MbS is not a fit and proper owner as she has accused him of being involved in the murder of Khashoggi, but only time will tell as to whether the Premier League will seriously take this into account when they release the results of the ODT.
