In response to a Q&A from the Newcastle Chronicle, with one of the queries to supporters being whether striker Andy Carroll should get a new deal, many fans have replied with a resounding rejection of the proposal, citing his injury issues among other concerns as main reasons as to why he ‘needs to retire‘.
Carroll, who emerged through the ranks at St James’ Park, going on to fire Newcastle back into the Premier League during the 2009/10 season with a brilliant individual campaign (Transfermarkt), has since endured a topsy-turvy career away from Tyneside.
After signing for Liverpool in a head-turning £36m deal, Carroll eventually racked up just 11 goals in 58 appearances for the Reds before moving to West Ham United in 2013. From there, despite bagging 34 goals and 17 assists for the Hammers over 142 outings overall, the former England international now finds himself back at his boyhood club hoping to reignite past glories.
However, with the player yet to score a league goal this season (WhoScored), many Magpies supporters feel that it could be time for the player to retire.

No, sorry. For all the hype he has been exactly what I thought he would be. Fragile and generally unavailable most of the time. He was the typical #NUFC cheap option and it hasn’t worked!
