According to a report from The Guardian, Newcastle United forward Andy Carroll has exacerbated his injury worries by attempting a volley in training, resulting in swathes of Magpies fans venting over his reported wages at the club.
Carroll, who has played just 14 times overall for Steve Bruce’s side this campaign and failed to score a Premier League goal, is currently on the sidelines with a hip flexor injury, reportedly made worse through his attempt to connect a volley in training. The Guardian also revealed that Carroll is currently on a basic £20,000 per week flat fee, inflated by appearance clauses in which he earns £75,000 for a starting place and £35,000 for an appearance on the substitutes’ bench.
As a result, these Magpies supporters have reacted furiously over the revelation, taking to Twitter and blasting the ‘unplayable‘ forward over his supposed ‘pay as you play‘ contract.
