After pundit Danny Mills argued that Newcastle United would be a ‘large step down’ for Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose – supporters have been in full agreement with the ex-Leeds United full-back over his assessment of the club.
Mills, speaking to Football Insider, hinted that a move to Tyneside for the former Sunderland loanee would be a step down from his current environment. Rose, who produced an impressive 90% pass success rate at international level for England during their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign (SofaScore), has been out of favour under new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho so far this season – with fellow left-back Ryan Sessegnon appearing to be above him in the pecking order.
Compared to defender Jetro Willems, who has now been ruled out for the rest of the season, Rose has managed to win for more offside decisions (0.3) whilst making more clearances (2.5) – perhaps hinting that he could be a solid replacement even if the Dutchman accumulated more tackles (1.9) and interceptions (0.9) on average, as per WhoScored.com.
However, in response to Mills, Newcastle fans concurred that a move for the Englishman would indeed be a step down – find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
And? As much as I can’t stand Danny Mills, he’s spot on this time

Well he would? Anyone who thinks we’re not a step down in footballing terms and ambition are deluded. ♂️
