According to an update by Newcastle Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder, the Magpies have suffered two more injury blows to defenders Emil Krafth and Florian Lejeune – prompting a mixed reaction from many supporters.
Lejeune, fresh off his two-goal heroics during Newcastle’s last outing away to Everton, has apparently picked up a groin injury sustained from his overhead kick to half the deficit. While it’s unknown how long the Frenchman will be out for, Steve Bruce’s side have also been dealt another blow – with full-back Krafth also having to sit on the sidelines.
The Swede sustained an injury to his ankle ligaments during the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park, being ruled out for six weeks, meaning Newcastle have just one senior natural right-back to choose from in DeAndre Yedlin. So far this season, Krafth has amassed more clearances than the American per game (2.2) whilst also being dribbled past fewer times (0.5), as per WhoScored.com.
Regardless, supporters have been divided over their latest injury blows, with one fan even claiming that former boss Rafa Benitez allegedly wanted the training ground pitches to be ‘upgraded’. Find all of their best comments down below.
Seriously the training ground pitches need to be upgraded to stop these injuries. Rafa was begging for this but MA wouldn’t listen.
