Fabrizio Romano has dropped a transfer update in what is a blow to the hopes of Newcastle United signing Fikayo Tomori.
The Chelsea man has emerged as a transfer target for the St. James’ Park faithful in this month’s window with the Northern Echo claiming he will leave Stamford Bridge, but Romano may have just dealt a big blow to their hopes of signing him.

As per a tweet from the Italian football journalist and transfer guru, talks are in an advanced stage between AC Milan and Frank Lampard’s team over initially signing him on a loan deal with an added option to buy of roughly €30m (£26.7m).
The current league leaders in the Serie A are hoping to complete the signing within the next few days in what would be a blow to the Tyneside club.

The England international definitely has a lot of qualities that would benefit Steve Bruce’s team, as pundit Noel Whelan pointed out in an interview with Football Insider last month: “He’s aggressive, he’s good on the ball, he’s got a great leap, he’s got a good stature about him.”
His aggression certainly comes out in his play, as even though he has barely had an opportunity to impress this season under Frank Lampard. In the 2019/20 term in the Premier League, Tomori won no fewer than 5.2 of his duels a game and also averaged 2.8 clearances, 1.9 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per match (Sofascore).
Nonetheless, Milan will certainly be getting a central defender with great potential, as the Magpies may have to look at pursuing other January targets.
