According to a report from the Daily Telegraph, Newcastle United may have reached an impasse in their pursuit of Hull City midfielder Jarrod Bowen – with the club reportedly unwilling to meet their £20 million valuation of the player.
Bowen, who has racked up an impressive tally from midfield this season with 16 goals and six assists in the Championship, has been at the centre of Newcastle’s interest dating all the way back to last summer (The Chronicle). The Englishman also bagged 22 goals and four assists last campaign, resulting in the club becoming eager to capture his signature. However, due to Hull’s valuation, the Magpies have now been reportedly turned off – with Steve Bruce’s side only willing to fork out £12 million upfront while paying any further money through instalments.
In comparison to current Magpies winger Allan Saint-Maximin, Bowen has failed to match his impressive 4.2 dribble success rate per game but makes up for it in terms of attempted shots – averaging 3.5 compared to Saint-Maximin’s 1.5 as per WhoScored.com.
