Newcastle United: Fans cast their vote for Magpies striker of the decade

Responding to a piece by the Chronicle, Newcastle United supporters gave their split verdicts over who deserves to be crowned the Magpies’ best number nine of the last decade – with an array of choices dividing the opinion of most fans.

Many candidates appear when electing to decide who has been the most influential presence up front over the last decade, with names such as Andy Carroll, Salomon Rondon, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse all seemingly deserving of contention for the prestigious accolade.

Carroll, who fired the Magpies back into the Premier League after relegation in 2009, seemingly looked unstoppable at times before his famous £35million move to Liverpool in January 2011.

Ba and Cisse are also in with a shot, with the Senegalese strike force proving formidable during the Alan Pardew era – especially when looking back at the latter’s unbelievable goal at Stamford Bridge.

Rondon, who was adored by many supporters, could be in with an outside chance of getting the vote – having a great 2018/19 season at St. James’ Park.

Here’s who fans nominated on Twitter.
