According to a report from the Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly stepped up their bid to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek ahead of fellow interested parties Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Newcastle United – with these Magpies supporters appearing to concede defeat in landing the player.

Piatek, who scored 13 goals in 18 starts for Genoa last campaign, could be seen as a prolific talisman that could lead the line at St. James’ Park ahead of the misfiring Joelinton and Andy Carroll.
He also possesses a superior pass success rate to Carroll despite being outmatched in terms of aerial duels by both forwards, with Joelinton’s 5.1 and the Englishman’s 6.3 overshadowing Piatek’s 2.3 from last season – perhaps hinting he could bring a different attacking style to the table as opposed to relying on his height and presence.
The Polish international, who is keen to leave the San Siro after the club re-signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is seen as a realistic target by a number of Premier League clubs – but Spurs, in particular, have reportedly stepped up their game to sign the forward.
As a result, Newcastle fans have been in dismay following the news they may face stiff competition from last year’s Champions League finalists for Piatek’s signature.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Should have been bought sooner, typical Newcastle, saving the best for last
