Ahead of Newcastle’s looming trip to West Ham United at the weekend, Miguel Almiron’s international teammate Fabian Balbuena has hinted the Magpies midfielder is being played out of position – with fans flocking to have their say.
Signing from MLS side Atlanta back in January for a club-record breaking fee, Almiron has found life difficult on Tyneside so far this campaign – with the attacking midfielder failing to register a single goal or assist in Newcastle colours.

Despite his worrying lack of form, manager Steve Bruce has continued to show faith in the Paraguayan with repeated starts – but now Balbuena has hinted that he is playing out of position, potentially giving a reason for his currently underwhelming stats.
Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, the West Ham defender stated: “I think his manager wants him to play on the wing but for me I think he would be able to show more if he is playing in the centre, in the No10 position.”
Indeed, its hard to argue with that take, with Almiron potentially able to influence the game more in a central position.
