It’s been a torrid tenure as owner of Newcastle United for Mike Ashley, with most supporters wanting to see the back of him sooner rather than later, and their latest Premier League loss has only managed to stoke the fire.
The Magpies were on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Monday, with Conor Hourihane and Anwar El Ghazi scoring quick-fire goals to give Steve Bruce’s side a mountain to climb.

Despite threatening briefly through a hopeful Allan Saint-Maximin effort, it was Villa who looked more like scoring and increasing a comfortable lead – with shot-stopper Martin Dubravka making a string of fine saves to deny the home side a more convincing scoreline.
After the final whistle, Magpies supporters took to social media and blasted Ashley for taking so long to sell up and move away from Tyneside – with many reports suggesting Newcastle were close to a takeover in recent times.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

It’s disgusting to watch at times

This is what happens when players are bought for profit (in this case in my view for backhanded payments) and not to improve the team. I feel for asm he tries but the other 10 stand and watch him
