Newcastle United fans are having a good time hearing about Sunderland’s links with former Magpies boss Steve McClaren.

Since Jack Ross was sacked a few days ago by the Black Cats, names have been linked to the job from all over football – and that includes former United head coach Steve McClaren.
McClaren’s most recent job at QPR was terminated following a dreadful run of one win in 15 games, with the former England manager going through a torrid spell in the last few seasons.
His tenure at St. James’ Park wasn’t much better either, being sacked halfway through the 2015/2016 season, and not even Rafael Benitez’s appointment could save Newcastle from eventual relegation that season.
However, news that he could be the front runner to replace Ross at Sunderland has got the St. James’ Park faithful bouncing in amusement.
