Lots of Newcastle United fans have discussed Alan Shearer as a manager, both his time as coach of the club in the past and potentially as a future option to re-take the hot seat.
An article from ChroniceLive was shared by The Chronicle on Twitter, which talked about Shearer’s own feelings during his time as head coach as well as his disappointment at not getting another crack in the role.
According to Transfermarkt, the 49-year old managed eight games in the Premier League during the 2008/09 season, but only managed to pick up one win, whilst also drawing two and losing five matches, with the Magpies scoring just four goals and conceding 10.
It was not enough as the Toon were relegated from the top flight, finishing 18th with 34 points, as per Sky Sports. To make matters worse, bitter rivals Sunderland survived, finishing 16th on 36 points.
These NUFC supporters discussed Shearer’s reign, whilst also giving their thoughts on their ex-ace potentially having another go at the job and replacing Steve Bruce in the dugout:
He should have been given the chance when we were relegated. Never had a chance of keeping our sorry backsides up in those 8 games. We still ended up getting to the last game. Itll never get revisited and we will never know. I'd prefer Keegan back for his hat trick as manager

For the club to be successful it is imperative the manager has the respect of the players, understands the club and what the fans want. There is no one better positioned than Shearer to achieve this under new ownership 👍

I’d love it at some point but he needs to get experience 1st. It would end up like lampard at Chelsea, not enough experience and ruining his reputation at a club that love him.
