Newcastle United: Fans discuss Odsonne Edouard who is targeted by would-be owners

Loads of Newcastle United fans have been discussing Odsonne Edouard as the would-be owners have targeted him as a potential signing if the prospective takeover goes through at St. James’ Park.

As per the Daily Express, the Tyneside club could look to sign him for less than the £40m asking price, although Arsenal lead the way for his signature. Transfer expert Ian McGarry told The Transfer Window podcast that Edouard has been attracting interest from other clubs, mainly in the Premier League but also in Europe.

As per McGarry (via Daily Express), the Magpies are determined to make sensible investments regarding player recruitment rather than using the scattergun approach which other clubs in the top flight who have been taken over and invested in by nation states or indeed wealthy individuals have used.

Newcastle are still waiting for their takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to be confirmed but are very keen to sign Edouard, partly on the basis that he is someone who is determined to be at a club where he would play every week, which the Magpies may be able to offer him.
