Lots of Newcastle United fans have been discussing Rob Lee after a Twitter post from NUFCThreatLevel shared a clip of some of his greatest goals for the northern club.
The post then highlighted the price that Newcastle paid for him, which was just £700,000. In an article from The Independent, Lee was listed as one of Kevin Keegan’s best buys considering the price that the former manager paid for him, alongside Andy Cole, Peter Beardsley, Les Ferdinand and David Ginola.
Incidentally, amongst the worst value-for-money signings were Tino Asprilla, Mike Hooper, Marc Hottiger, Alex Mathie and Paul Kitson.
Lee made 304 appearances for United in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and providing three assists, according to Transfermarkt. He also managed 20 senior caps for the English national team, scoring two goals, and represented Charlton Athletic, West Ham United, Wycombe Wanderers and Derby County in English football.
