Newcastle United: Fans discuss takeover claim about Richard Masters

Many Newcastle United fans are discussing a claim about the prospective takeover in the North East as ChronicleLive have reported that the Tyneside club’s future is now firmly in the hands of Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive.

As reported by the outlet, in recent weeks the top flight’s owner’s and director’s test has reached the final stages, and that is where it has stayed after eight weeks of processing.

Masters has offered little in terms of reassurance where Amanda Staveley, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben brothers’ proposal to take the Magpies off of Mike Ashley’s hands is concerned.

The decision that he has to make is whether the bidding group have any links to pirate television station beoutQ in Saudi Arabia, arguably one of if not the biggest of his career so far as chief executive of England’s highest division.

These members of the Toon faithful reacted to the claim on Twitter, with some rather mixed responses. Whilst some were confident, others were a little more on edge, perhaps understandably so given they have been waiting since March for the takeover to go through.

Geordies, will the decision be ultimately down to Masters? Comment below!
