Newcastle United: Fans discuss Xherdan Shaqiri who wants move after takeover

Loads of Newcastle United fans have been discussing Xherdan Shaqiri as The Daily Mail’s Dominic King claimed that the Tyneside club have sounded out his representatives about a possible move in the upcoming summer transfer window.

As per his official Twitter page, the journalist tweeted that Liverpool will not stand in Shaqiri’s way if the initial talks firm up, as the wide player would reportedly be interested, providing that the proposed takeover in the North East is approved by the Premier League.

Indeed, a calf injury has seen the 28-year old limited to just 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season for the Reds, scoring just one goal and failing to make any assists, according to Transfermarkt.

In addition, he has had to compete with the form of Mohamed Salah on the right-wing, who has netted 20 times and made nine assists in 40 games in all competitions (via the website).

These members of the Toon faithful discussed the potential addition of the Swiss international on Twitter and it seems that the reviews are a little mixed. Whilst one fan wanted him, a couple of others weren’t too impressed with the link, perhaps given his lack of appearances and goal involvements this term. Meanwhile, others suggested it was simply agent talk at this stage, highlighting the fact that the takeover isn’t even complete yet anyway…
