Newcastle United: Fans drool as proposed takeover date is revealed by Saudi website

Some Newcastle United fans are drooling as a proposed takeover date has been revealed by a Saudi website called ‘House of Saud‘, which claims that an impending announcement of the Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) takeover of the Tynseide club was delayed from the planned day of Monday.

This was apparently because of ‘a few small details’, as there are a complex set of requirements and regulations to follow. The situation has further been complicated by the lockdown situation across world football.

According to House of Saud, the Saudi Finance Minister has received no indication of any such issues or obstacles with regard to the takeover at St. James’ Park. In addition, the Magpies board are allegedly confident that they will formally be allowed to announce the deal formally within, at most, ‘the next week’.

Speculation as to whether the bid from the Saudi-led consortium, spearheaded by businesswoman Amanda Staveley, will go through unscathed has been a hot topic of debate for a while now and is still discussed heavily among many members of the Toon faithful.
