Newcastle United: Fans flock to tweet about ‘flop’ Xisco

Many Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet about their former man Xisco after he told Riazor that he has no regrets about his move to the Tyneside club.

The 33-year old recalled the final moments before signing, including being at a hotel ready to play for Deportivo against Real Madrid at home before being called to say that the signing was close and that he could not play.

He hopped on a plane virtually straight away, summarising that it was quick, unexpected and by surprise. The Spaniard did regret not having more opportunities, but claimed that he would make the same decision again.

Indeed, Xisco arrived from Spanish football in 2008 for 5.68 million euros, but after a relatively poor season he was shipped out on loan a couple of times before eventually being let go for free, according to Transfermarkt.

The centre-forward only managed seven appearances in all competitions in the 2008/09 campaign for the Magpies, scoring one goal, as per the website.

These members of the Toon faithful flocked to a tweet branding him a ‘flop’ after hearing his comments:
