Loads of Newcastle United fans were fuming after takeover news emerged from The Times (via NUFC 360) that there will be an evidence session held on the Saudi-based piracy of British sport, including Premier League football.
This will be held by a select committee called by Giles Watling, an MP and a Conservative member of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.
The takeover of the Tyneside club by the Saudi Arabia-backed consortium has already hit significant political obstacles which could hold up the sale and this could prove to be another kick in the teeth in terms of the deal potentially falling through. However, if the buying side were to overcome these obstacles, then they can take it as significant steps into their bid finally being accepted by the top flight.
This would end Mike Ashley’s tenure of 13 years as Newcastle owner, which would likely please many of the Toon faithful given their voluble criticism of him in the past.

Doesn’t seem any point now in any takeover, I would rather the plug be pulled let them sort this mess outside of a takeover and if it can be resolved try again. There needs to be some official message as well from either premier league or the club

Yet another interloper in the PL process. This is beyond a joke now. It’s a test, using clearly set out criteria which is very clearly defined. All this noise is outside of its scope. I would hope the PL are strong enough to bat it back and come to a decision #NUFCTakeover
