The Saudi-led consortium, spearheaded by businesswoman Amanda Staveley and backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), will be hoping that their bid pushes through so they can take over from Mike Ashley, who has reigned for 13 years.
The owner’s and director’s test is still thought to be an ongoing matter, however, as per the report, sources close to the deal remain confident that the takeover will be rubber-stamped but England’s highest division are looking into the argument of piracy of live television games which was flagged up by Qatar-based beIN Sports.
