Newcastle United: Fans fume at news that Rafa Benitez could replace Steve Bruce

Some Newcastle United fans are fuming after news emerged that certain bookies have backed Rafa Benitez to replace Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park under the potential new ownership.

As per ChronicleLive, some bookies have priced Bruce as low as 4/11 to not be in charge of the Tyneside club for the first game of next season, and consequently Rafa Benitez has emerged as a 3/1 favourite to make a return to the Toon faithful.

According to Paddy Power, Max Allegri’s odds have been slashed to 6/1, and amongst the other potential successors are Steven Gerrard at 10/1, Sean Dyche and Roberto Martinez at 12/1 and Eddie Howe at 14’s. The outsiders for the job include Laurent Blanc, Michael Carrick, Chris Wilder, Marco Rose and Kevin Keegan.

However, Bruce is at 2/1 to remain as manager. The betting company have also released takeover specials, with the Magpies at 3/1  to spend more than £100million on any player before 31st Jan 2021, 4/1 for them to finish in the top six next season and 15/2 for NUFC to win the Premier League in the next five seasons, as per the report.

These supporters were fuming at the news and seemed to prefer for Bruce to stay rather than Benitez to take charge once again:
