Fabian Schar was one of Newcastle United’s players of the season last campaign with the centre-back providing much-needed solidarity in their bid to avoid the drop – and now he is achieved yet another milestone.
Schar, who accumulated an average 5.7 clearances per game and six Man of the Match awards for the Magpies in 2018/2019, as per WhoScored.com, celebrated Euro 2020 qualification on Monday night with his native Switzerland following a great qualifying campaign.
The Swiss national team topped their qualifying group ahead of the likes of Denmark and the Republic of Ireland – meaning they have secured an automatic passage to the European Championship group stages.
Schar, in particular, was instrumental to their triumph – scoring a brilliant goal in Dublin away to Ireland whilst forming rock-solid partnerships with the likes of Manuel Akanji and Nico Elvedi in a back three.
As a result of yet another great triumph for the centre-back, Newcastle supporters were quick to praise him on Twitter.
