Many Newcastle United fans hailed Chris Hughton after an article from Ciaran Kelly for The ChronicleLive was posted on his official Twitter page.
The report touches on the former manager’s deepest thoughts as he revealed to the outlet his feelings about being sacked, the ownership of the club, the quality of his staff and his overall emotions about having the opportunity to manage Newcastle.
One comment that was picked out by Kelly was when Hughton said the first thing he felt after losing his job was the pride that he had to manage a club he called ‘great’. The journalist added that the 61-year old will always have a special bond with Newcastle supporters and this became clear from lots of Magpies’ responses.
Hughton managed on Tyneside for three seasons, winning 39 games out of 75, whilst also drawing 17 and losing 19, with the team scoring 135 goals in total and conceding 90, according to Transfermarkt. He also guided them to the Championship title in his first full season in charge, winning the league’s Manager of the Year award as well (LMA).
