Responding to Lee Ryder’s preview in the Chronicle, many Newcastle United supporters were pessimistic to say the least over their side’s hopes of coming away from Wolves with all three points – taking to social media and blasting their side’s chances of a decent result at Molineux.
The Magpies haven’t beaten Wolves in the Premier League since both sides were promoted to the top flight, drawing two and losing one of their previous three meetings. During their last outing, Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles’ early goal was eventually cancelled by a late equaliser from winger Jonny, with the Magpies dropping points at home in their 1-1 bout back in October.
Even though Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have lost their last two games in the Premier League, perhaps most surprisingly 2-1 to second bottom side Watford, they’ll take positives in the fact that they recently mounted an incredible 3-2 comeback win over Premier League champions Manchester City.
As a result, Newcastle fans aren’t convinced they have any hope in securing a surprise victory – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very unlikely. But I would be ecstatic to eat my own words
