Newcastle United: Fans laud ‘awesome’ takeover report as Mike Ashley is set to hand keys over

Plenty of Newcastle United fans have lauded a takeover report from the Daily Star (via NUFC 360) as Mike Ashley is set to hand over the ownership of the Tyneside club.

As per the report, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the PCP Capital Partners led by businesswoman Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers will all be handed over the keys to the club by the CEO of Sports Direct next week as the Premier League are set to finally approve the deal.

The bid would transform the Magpies into one of the world’s richest clubs and, as per the report, end one of the most contentious ownerships of a football club in the modern era.

It is safe to say that the relationship between members of the Toon faithful and Ashley has not been the best and, if the takeover goes through, it would end the 55-year old’s reign of 13 years at St. James’ Park.
