Plenty of Newcastle United fans are lauding the latest news about the prospective takeover coming from The Daily Telegraph, as the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) select committee is set to snub Conservative MP Giles Watling’s request to scrutinise the deal.
As per the report, the MP had previously wrote to colleagues on the DCMS select committee asking them to agree to hold an evidence session into piracy claims surrounding Saudi Arabia.

However, the outlet has been told that Watling’s request is about to be denied as the committee continues to focus on the impact of the global pandemic crisis on the sectors it oversees.
This will surely come as a relief to several members of the Toon faithful, as this was seen as a potential stumbling block in the possible failure of the bid.
However, it seems as if this meeting will no longer take place, therefore removing another obstacle in the way of the proposed takeover in the North East.
