The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have all jumped onto the back of their club’s latest Twitter post to demand that their board make some money available to Rafa Benitez and make a signing. Newcastle tweeted that the fixture announcement for next season is in just three days and asked who the fans wanted to see up first, with a number of sarcastic responses being fired back.

The Magpies propping our bar up are set for a frustrating summer. The club has been locked in talks with Benitez for what seems like months now, as the Spaniard is reluctant to commit his future to the club without a written guarantee that he’ll be given adequate funds in the transfer market. The club has only signed one player, Martin Dubravka who was on-loan to them during the back-end of last season, and the fans are already beginning to worry.
Every day that ticks by without Benitez signing a contract or the Geordies tipping their toes into the transfer market beings more panic to the fans. The club need to sign a full-back, a winger and a clinical striker if they want to improve in their 10th place finish from this season and at the moment, that looks very unrealistic with the club still unable to tie down Benitez.

The Newcastle fans are well within their rights to be worried about the summer. The club have shown little intention in the market and the clouds hanging over the Rafa Benitez deal is increasingly worrying as the saga looks far from over.
