Lots of Newcastle United fans heaped praise on defender Javier Manquillo despite his side’s frustrating 0-0 draw to Burnley on Saturday.
The Magpies were ultimately powerless from an attacking perspective to penetrate the Clarets’ defence with just four shots on target from 21 attempted. With this result, they have now gone four games without scoring a goal in the Premier League and are also just four points from safety. The result meant that Newcastle slid down to 14th in the standings. Still, the St. James’ Park faithful found a positive from the affair.
Manquillo, who is valued at £4.5m by TransferMarkt, was applauded for his efforts, despite his side being unable to break the deadlock. He won three of his ground duels and made three tackles as he was consistently trying to make things happen down the right-hand side, as per SofaScore. Because of this, supporters were pleased with the Spaniard’s showing and made their feelings clear on social media.
